SB 2162    RELATING TO ENVIRONMENTAL ENFORCEMENT     JDC/LRE, WAM
        Authorizes citizen suits in water pollution
        enforcement.

JDC ONLY

SB 2536    RELATING TO THE UNIFORM PRINCIPAL INCOME ACT  JDC, WAM
        Repeals the revised uniform principal and income act
        (chapter 557, HRS) and establishes a new uniform
        principal and income act.

SB 3177    RELATING TO JUDGES                            JDC, WAM
        Requires the Judiciary to establish an incentive and
        merit pay program for all appellate and trial court
        judges.  Requires the judicial selection commission to
        establish and report on a proposal to establish a
        merit pay system for judges based upon judicial
        evaluations.

SB 2425    RELATING TO APPOINTED COUNSEL                 JDC, WAM
        Requires compensation for court appointed counsel be
        equivalent to that paid in federal district court.

 
SB 2115    RELATING TO FALSE CLAIMS                      JDC, WAM
        Establishes a False Claims Act against the government.

SB 2764    RELATING TO TOBACCO PRODUCTS REPORT           JDC, WAM
        Establishes a reporting requirement to enforce a state
        law that requires tobacco product manufacturers who
        sell tobacco products in the State to deposit certain
        amounts into escrow based on the number of cigarettes
        sold.

SB 2755    MAKING AN EMERGENCY APPROPRIATION FOR THE     JDC, WAM
        ASBESTOS PROPERTY DAMAGE LITIGATION
        Appropriates emergency funds ($2,100,000.00) for the
        continuation/ conclusion of the asbestos property
        damage litigation in fiscal year 1999-2000.

SB 2751    RELATING TO THE RELIEF OF CERTAIN PERSONS'    JDC, WAM
        CLAIMS AGAINST THE STATE AND PROVIDING APPROPRIATIONS
        THEREFOR
        Provides for the payment of claims against the State
        for refunds of taxes, for judgements and settlements,
        and for other miscellaneous payments.

SB 2759    RELATING TO CERTIFICATES OF IDENTIFICATION    JDC, WAM
        Proposes to change the expiration date of State ID
        cards to coincide with a person's birth date, and to
        allow renewal by mail for persons 65 years and older.

SB 2295    MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR UNIFORM LAWS      JDC, WAM
        Appropriates $32,000 for Hawaii's contribution to the
        costs of NCCUSL.

islands), at least 24 hours prior to the hearing.  When faxing,
please indicate to whom the testimony is being submitted, the
date and time of the hearing, and the required number of copies
needed for submittal.
